Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland, in northern Finland. Almost totally destroyed during World War II, today it’s a modern city known for being the "official" home town of Santa Claus, and for viewing the Northern Lights. I
t’s home to Arktikum, a museum and science center exploring the Arctic region and the history of Finnish Lapland. The Science Centre Pilke features interactive exhibits on northern forests
Itinerary
Upon your arrival in Rovaniemi by flight, a private car will take you from Rovaniemi Airport to your hotel. During this 3-hour tour, you will be taken to the best spot to witness the Northern Lights, a spectacular natural event in the Arctic. Bring your camera and tripod to capture the beautiful colours. You will drive away from the city and its lights for about 30-45 minutes, depending on the weather. If you are lucky, you might even see the lights on the way. Remember, seeing the lights is not guaranteed, but they are often visible on clear evenings. Even if you do not see the lights, the Arctic starry sky is stunning. Seeing the lights is a bit like winning a small lottery – it is unpredictable but might happen during the trip! Be prepared for some pleasant surprises. The starting time of the tour might change. After the tour, you will spend the night at your hotel in Rovaniemi.
